Join a large, highly regarded contentious construction practice ranked Tier 4 (Legal 500) with 40 fee earners. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, intellectually challenging construction disputes for a prestigious client base including major housing associations and G15 housing providers. You will receive appropriate supervision whilst taking responsibility for day-to-day file management and gaining exposure to precedent-setting cases.

Day to day

What you'll
be doing

Day-to-day file management with appropriate supervision; advising on construction contracts including payments, extensions of time, loss and expense and defects; drafting witness statements, briefs to counsel, letters of instruction to experts and letters of claim; CE filing primarily in the Technology & Construction Court; liaising directly with clients; organising and maintaining accurate files; participating in seminars and contributing to department publications; following department procedures and firm policies including accounts rules and LEXCEL compliance.
Candidate profile

Who we're
looking for

Minimum 1-2 years' post-qualification experience in contentious construction (some non-contentious experience preferable but not essential). Strong academic background with at least a 2:1 at degree level. Thorough understanding of the Housing Grants, Construction & Regeneration Act 1996, the Scheme for Construction Contracts (England & Wales) Regulations 1998 and the Civil Procedure Rules. Essential knowledge of the Defective Premises Act 1972 and The Building Safety Act 2022. Experience of adjudications required. Proactive, self-motivated, with excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal abilities and meticulous attention to detail. Able to manage competing deadlines and work both independently and collaboratively.
