Drafting costs budgets, budget revisions and budget discussion reports (Precedent H and Precedent R), and advising on costs management. Preparing points of reply and replies to points of dispute, and pursuing recovery through provisional and detailed assessment. Reviewing fee earner files to identify recoverable items including disbursements, counsel's fees, ATE premiums and success fees. Working within the fixed recoverable costs regime and advising on CPR, Costs Practice Directions, QOCS and relevant case law. Advising clients realistically on recovery, proportionality and strategy. Running your own caseload, maintaining clear records, keeping solicitor clients informed and supporting junior colleagues.
